Inverleigh has sprung a recruiting surprise after unveiling former Mathieson medallist Guy O’Keefe among its additions for 2025.
O’Keefe, who was drafted by the Western Bulldogs in 2007 out of the Geelong Falcons, last played with Portarlington in 2017.
The 34-year-old was an upset winner of the Mathieson Medal in 2014 as Leopold reached its first GFNL grand final.
The Hawks, who narrowly missed the finals this year after snapping a 31-year premiership drought in 2023, have made two signings from GDFNL rivals.
Geelong West captain Josh Viney is on the move, and Daniel Maher crosses from Bell Post Hill.
Inverleigh has also confirmed the addition of Jarrod Bacon from Anglesea and the previously reported signing of Maher’s Panthers teammate Boe Collins.
Also among the 17 newcomers to Morton Power Oval are Jaiden Reid from St Joseph’s and Josh Foster from Wyndham Suns.
The Hawks have lost former coach Adam Donohue (South Colac), Matt Tyquin (Springvale Districts), Paddy Bourke (South Barwon), and Fin O’Keefe (Geelong West GFNL).
In other GDFNL news, Geelong West has added former VFL and SANFL forward Joel Coombs.
Coombs played with Box Hill before heading across the border to join Norwood.
The Giants have also confirmed Hawthorn premiership player Michael Osborne as their Director of Coaching.
