Reigning GDFNL premier Thomson will have to wait until Round 3 to unfurl its 2024 premiership flag.
The rolling nature of the fixture means the Tigers will start its flag defence away from its Godfrey Street base against Geelong West and Anakie before facing grand final opponent Belmont Lions following the Easter break on Saturday, April 26.
The Lions start their quest to go one better than 2024 when it hosts Werribee Centrals.
East Geelong, knocked out in straight sets for the second time in three years, faces Bannockburn at Richmond Crescent.
New Winchelsea coach Ben Moloney faces a tough start to his tenure with the Blues, who travel to Inverleigh to kick off its campaign.
Bell Post Hill will start life with Ash Witney going it alone as coach following Justin Tarr’s decision to step down against North Geelong.
Joel Bennett will take charge of Corio by himself for the first time after his father, Darren, pulled the pin as co-coach as the Devils host Anakie.
At this stage, Winchelsea is the only club to be playing outside of Saturday afternoon, with consecutive twilight matches in rounds 3 and 4.
League byes are scheduled for Easter and King’s Birthday weekends, with Round 13 split in half.
The Grand Final will be played a week later than usual, falling on Saturday, September 20.
It means the region’s three grand finals (Bellarine, GDFNL and GFNL) played on consecutive weekends after 2024 saw a week gap between the GDFNL and GFNL after the latter was played on the AFL Grand Final public holiday.
The Bellarine and GFNL fixtures are expected to be released before Christmas.
