Liam Kershaw could be back playing in as little as four weeks after scans cleared the AFL draft hopeful of a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament.

There were fears the 18-year-old would spend up to 12 months on the sidelines after landing awkwardly during the second quarter of St Joseph’s GFNL win over Geelong West at Drew Oval on Saturday.

However, K rock Football has been told that Kershaw has severe bone bruising, torn calf and posterior muscles, and a meniscus tear, which is understood to be an old injury.

It is a relief for the talented wingman, who grew 10cms in 12 months, drawing attention from Port Adelaide and Essendon, with the Bombers showing interest during this year’s mid-season draft period.

As well as playing at Joeys, where he has qualified for this year’s finals, Kershaw has featured with the Geelong Falcons, made his VFL debut for Geelong, and was selected in the Young Guns team that played against the Vic Country and Vic Metro under-18s.
