St Joseph’s duo Oli Northam and Harry Smith will miss Saturday’s clash with North Shore after accepting the early offer of a one-match suspension from the AFL Barwon Match Review Panel.

However, the pair, who were cited for incidents in the third quarter of Joeys’ win over St Albans, will return for the blockbuster Anzac Day clash with South Barwon.

Werribee-listed Northam came under scrutiny for striking Supersaint Riley Somers and defender Smith for striking Brock McDonald in the clash at St Albans Reserve.

McDonald is free to play against Bell Park this week after accepting the MRP’s early offer of a reprimand for charging Angus Humphrey during the third quarter in his first game back after missing the 2023 season with a knee injury.

Queenscliff’s Lachie Kidd accepted a reprimand for a dangerous tackle on Modewarre’s Seb Hutley, as did Anakie’s Billy Goodwin for striking Noah Penny from North Geelong.

Geelong West youngster Tom Drennan was looked at for a high bump in the loss to Leopold but was cleared of any wrongdoing.

Drysdale veteran Tom Ruggles, Belmont Lions’ Jed Evans, and North Geelong’s Aaron Best escaped sanction due to a lack of vision of what AFL Barwon has labelled “possible strikes”.
