Two-time Team of the Year selection Mitch Chafer has made a shock switch from Grovedale to GFNL rival St Joseph’s.

Sources at both clubs have confirmed the star forward’s move.

A Torquay junior who spent some time at St Mary’s for three senior games and a Geelong Falcons premiership player in 2017, Chafer arrived at Burdoo Reserve ahead of the 2019 season.

With the Tigers, he played 60 senior games and kicked 129 goals.

Despite an ankle injury delaying his start to 2024, Chafer still managed 27 goals in ten games to finish as Grovedale’s leading goalkicker.

He also made seven VFL appearances for Geelong across 2022-23 and spent 2024 on the list of premiers Werribee.

More to come
