Leopold has kept its finals chances in the GFNL alive with a strong 57-point win over Geelong West at Leopold Memorial Park on Saturday.

The Lions never looked under pressure, as they held the Giants goalless for the first half and finished with 12.14 (86) to 3.11 (29).

St Mary’s remain on top of the ladder after soundly beating Lara 14.7 (91) to 3.9 (27) at Anthony Costa Oval, while Colac strengthened its second place, following a narrow nine-point win over Newtown & Chillwell, who now sit in third place level on points with South Barwon, Leopold and St Joseph’s.

With only two rounds left to play in the home-and-away season, any of these four teams could see themselves dropping out of the top five.

Meanwhile, St Albans has lifted itself off the bottom of the ladder and silenced the doubters, with their second win in a row, accounting for North Shore in a nail-biting match after coming back from a 26-point deficit at half time and being ten points down at the final break, to win by just two points, 10.17 (77) to 11.9 (75).
