The current GFNL season isn’t even over, but Grovedale has struck the first recruiting blow of 2024.

The Tigers have confirmed the return of key forward Tom Gillett to Burdoo Reserve after spending this year playing in Western Australia with a Facebook simply stating “he is back”.

Gillett burst onto the scene in 2021, kicking 42 goals in a Covid-shortened season to win the GFNL goalkicking and Rookie of the Year.

Gillett was a standout for Boulder City in the Goldfields League this year.

He kicked 82 goals in 16 league games and five goals for WA Country in its matchup with SA Country.

Meanwhile, the 2023 GFNL finals series continues this weekend.
