The quartet of Marcus Thompson, Logan Wagener, Sam Scott, and Andrew Pepper has etched itself into immortality at Leopold after becoming the club’s first three-time premiership players.
All four were part of the Lions’ maiden GFNL success in 2016 and again in 2023, despite Wagener (Newcomb/Werribee) and Pepper (Hamilton Kangaroos) playing elsewhere in between.
For Thompson, the 21-point win over South Barwon makes him the club’s first two-time premiership captain.
Despite further elevating his lofty standing at Memorial Park, the inspirational leader was rapt for his six teammates yet to taste premiership success.
“To see guys like Jake Pitt, Tom Gordon, Kyle Bumpstead become premiership players… ‘Buddha’ (coach Garry Hocking) and I spoke about it during the year… what’s driving this group is seeing new people get to experience it because it’s the best feeling ever,” he told krockfootball.live.
“To work your arse off all year and achieve something, it’s just so special, and I’m so lucky to be able to share it with so many great people in the club and the community.”
