First-year Lara coach Brett Henderson has lauded the impact of former AFL player Majak Daw on the Cats’ playing group during his first pre-season at Bisinella Oval.

The 33-year-old, who played 54 games for North Melbourne, was unveiled as one of Henderson’s key signings last September.

Henderson revealed Daw had been battling a minor knee issue but has returned to full training ahead of a trio of practice matches before Lara takes on fellow battler St Albans in Round 1 at Concept Oval.

“The last two training nights, he’s been superb,” Henderson told K rock Football’s Beyond the Boundary podcast.

“The last session we had last week, he looked really good; he was moving really well, hitting up at the ball, marking everything, and just moving around the ground really well.

“We’re really excited about what he can bring. And look, he’s been really good with the young guys as well.
