The luckless run of Jack Buckley is continuing, with the star St Joseph’s half-back likely to be sidelined until later next month with a rib issue.

Buckley revealed on krockfootball.live that he suffered the injury in the reserve grade clash against Newtown & Chilwell in Opening Round.

“I don’t know the medical term, but it’s just cracked, essentially,” he said.

“It didn’t come through until about three or four days later.

“I had to call the doctor and say, ‘I think I need an X-ray,’ because I didn’t want to rock up to training and just be like, ‘Oh, I’m pretty sore,’ because they would have all laughed me out of town.

“So I had to make sure I had some evidence of a cracked rib.”

Meanwhile, St Albans midfielder Sam Donegan is closing in on a return from a hamstring injury.

Donegan has been sidelined since the Northern Bullants Round 2 VFL clash against Geelong on March 29.

“It’s probably about a four-to-six-week hamstring,” he told krockfootball.live.

“We’ll probably err on the side of caution and probably give it six weeks, which I think is about two weeks away.”
