Kane Loftus has become the latest departure from St Mary’s, with the speedster joining VAFA club Uni Blacks for the 2025 season.
The Torquay product, who is training with VFL club Collingwood in the hope of earning a spot on the Magpies’ list, played 26 senior games in three seasons at Anthony Costa Oval.
A fractured scaphoid limited him to nine senior matches in 2024, which included both of the Saints’ finals.
Loftus, who is now living and working in Melbourne, is the seventh player from the semi-final loss to South Barwon to depart the club, joining Kade Chalcraft (Shepparton United), Dion Johnstone (Newcomb), Harry Ling (Anglesea), Damian McMahon (Barwon Heads), Joe Maishman (Geelong Amateur), and Nick Minchin (Murrumbeena)
Two-time Mathieson medalist Harry Benson (Palm Beach-Currumbin) and star forward Sam Dobson (Koroit) are also gone.
Meanwhile, Lara has unveiled a quarter of recruits in recent days.
The Cats, who had already added former North Melbourne and Melbourne big man Majak Daw and ex-Williamstown gun Darby Henderson, received commitments from Lachie Grima (ex-Werribee Districts), Majok ‘Shaggy’ Ngong (ex-St Albans – EDFL), Aidan Tullio (Wyndham Suns) and Grovedale under-18 Ethan Mohr.
