A St Albans youngster is facing a delayed start to the GFNL season after being reported twice for alleged incidents involving an umpire in a weekend practice match.

Ben Gadd was booked during the third quarter of the Supersaints reserve grade clash with Bentleigh at Concept Oval for behaving in an obscene manner towards an umpire and low-level abusive/obscene language towards an umpire.

The base sanction for both offences is a three-match suspension.

However, Gadd has entered an early guilty plea, accepting a two-game ban, which rules him out of the opening four rounds of the season.

“(Ben) is very remorseful for the incident,” St Albans football boss Sam Wolfenden said.

“He values the role that umpires play in local sport.”

A St Albans junior, Gadd made six senior appearances in 2024 after debuting in the Round 3 loss to Newtown & Chilwell.
