Veteran Lion accepts reprimand

Sam Scott is free to play in Saturday’s GFNL second semi-final after accepting a reprimand for an incident that resulted in the Leopold veteran being yellow-carded during extra time of the thrilling qualifying final win over St Mary’s.

Scott was sent from the ground during the first period of extra time for a high bump on Saints gun Jarryd Garner.

AFL Barwon’s Match Review Panel graded the incident as careless conduct, low impact, and high contact, drawing a one-match sanction.

However, an early guilty plea means the two-time premiership gun will be available to take on Joey.

Bell Park assistant coach Ben Lloyd was looked at for a high bump on South Barwon’s Jonty Broughton in the Dragons’ heartbreaking elimination final loss.

However, the MRP deemed the incident not to be reportable.

In the GDFNL, East Geelong’s Caleb Lowndes accepted a reprimand for rough conduct on Thomson’s Mitch Sheedy.

The incident from the third quarter of the Eagles’ preliminary final loss was assessed as careless conduct, low impact, and high contact, attracting a one-match sanction.

And a striking charge against Torquay’s Tom Hooper on Anglesea livewire Dyl Pettingill in the Tigers’ Bellarine grand final win was withdrawn.
