Green light for Juniors

JUNIOR football across the region will resume in mid-July.

AFL Barwon has confirmed competitions from under-17 level down will begin on the weekend of July 18-19.

Two grading rounds will be held for “competitive” competitions, followed by seven home-and-away matches and a grand final day across the weekend of September 19-20.

“Whilst trying to provide some form of normality for junior players, this season for junior sport is about providing juniors with an outlet for both their mental and physical health in a supportive team environment,” AFL Barwon said in a statement.

“AFL Barwon understands the importance of community connection and junior sport, and we are delighted to be able to give our junior members of the region the opportunity to say “Let’s Play” in 2020.”

Under-19 football will have to wait until August 1 to commence due to protocols around contact sport for those aged 18 and over.

That section will also have two grading round, followed by six home-and-away matches and a grand final.
