AFTER spending the majority of pre-season in the rehab group, ruck Erin Hoare is back in full training and looking forward to playing her first AFL Women’s match for Geelong.
The former star netballer, who played four AFLW games with Melbourne in 2018, underwent surgery on a lisfranc injury suffered in the final round of the 2018 VFLW season.
It meant Hoare missed taking on Collingwood on Saturday, but she hasn’t ruled out taking on reigning premier Western Bulldogs at Whitten Oval on Saturday night.
“The hope is (to play) pretty much as soon as possible,” Hoare told K rock Football.
“I’m extremely close to being available for selection and just doing everything I can to be ready.”

Hoare is one of a number of big names that missed the opening round win over Collingwood, with captain Mel Hickey (knee) and Richelle Cranston (suspended) also sidelined, while Phoebe McWilliams (hamstring tightness) was a late withdrawal from the one-point victory.
