Jeremys torch Tigers

THE Giants Jeremys – Cameron and Finlayson – have combined for 12 goals to propel GWS to a 49-point AFL win over an ailing Richmond in Sydney.

Cameron troubled the Tigers with his mobility and aerial ability kicking 7.5 despite appearing to favour a shoulder in the second half.

Finlayson, who has played most of his senior football as a back, comfortably exceeded his four-goal tally from his 17 previous games, booting 5.1

He kicked three straight GWS goals either side of halftime as the surging Giants led by as much as 28 in the third quarter, and by 20 at the final break.

GWS kicked six goals to one in the last quarter to ice a 19.11 (125) to 10.16 (76) win.

The Tigers injury woes continued as they played almost all the game one man down after Jayden Short dislocated an elbow early in the first quarter.

It was another sobering day for the Tigers, who were coming off a 44-point loss to Collingwood.

They could’t match the efficiency, run and pressure of the home team at Giants Stadium.

Cameron scored all but one of the Giants 16 first quarter points, but Richmond led by eight at the first break.

The Giants kicked four straight goals and six majors to two in the term to be up by 15 at halftime .

GWS speedster Lachie Whitfield logged a career-best 41 disposals while Jacob Hopper and Stephen Coniglio also provided plenty of run for the hosts.

Ruckman Shane Mumford was solid in his first game since 2017.

Tom Lynch had his best goal return as a Tiger kicking 4.1 while Kane Lambert tallied 34 touches.

Richmond debutant Sydney Stack also showed some promising signs.

Dustin Martin cut a frustrated figure for much of the afternoon, making little impact with his 15 touches as he struggled against Matt De Boer.
