FORMER St Kilda star Jack Steven will make his AFL debut for Geelong in Saturday night’s clash with Carlton at GMHBA Stadium.
A four-time best-and-fairest winner at the Saints, Steven will play his first match for the Cats just five weeks after being stabbed in the chest in an incident in Melbourne.
The 30-year-old, who played 183 games in red, white and black, replaces Brandan Parfitt, who has withdrawn from the team due to hamstring soreness.
Steven joined Geelong as a free agent following a tough 2019 season where he battled mental health issues.
He featured in the Cats’ Marsh Series loss to Essendon in Colac where he amassed 26 possessions.
The Cats don’t expect ongoing issues for Parfitt, who is expected to train tomorrow and doing a running session on Sunday.
