Irish recruit Kate Kenny will be the lone new face in the Geelong team as it prepares to open the AFLW season with a blockbuster clash against Melbourne at GMHBA Stadium on Saturday night.
Kenny, who excelled at both Gaelic football and camogie (hurling), is one of Emerald Isle products in the Cats’ lineup, joining Rachel Kearns, Aishling Moloney, and Anna-Rose Kennedy.
Geelong coach Dan Lowther had an almost full list to pick from, with star forward Chloe Scheer (toe) the only player sidelined.
2023 draftee Chantal Mason is among the emergencies with Abbey McDonald and Brooke Plummer.
Amy McDonald, Kate Surman and Mikayla Bowen will each play their 50th AFLW game.
McDonald joins Julia Croclett-Grills, captain Meg McDonald, and Becky Webster as the fourth player to reach the half-century in the Hoops.
