Geelong will make a call later this week on whether star duo Tom Stewart and Bailey Smith will head to Brisbane for Saturday night’s clash with the Lions.
Stewart was cleared of any serious injury after being subbed out of the loss during the second quarter of the loss to St Kilda at Marvel Stadium.
Smith was a late withdrawal from the clash with the Saints with a calf injury.
“With one more session before we head to Brisbane, Tom will be closely monitored before making a call at selection,” football boss Andrew Mackie said.
“We took a conservative approach and will continue to monitor Bailey throughout the week before we make a call on his availability.”
YOUNG CAT READY FOR LIONS TEST
Former Carlton and Gold Coast forward Jack Martin (calf) is also a test after being a late withdrawal during the warm-up before the Cats’ VFL win over Sandringham.
“The club took the cautious approach to withdraw him, and Jack will be a test to play in Saturday’s VFL match against Northern Bullants at GMHBA Stadium,” Mackie said.
After being listed as having a hamstring issue last week, draftee Lenny Hoffman is now listed as indefinite with a back issue.
“Lenny has experienced increasing back symptoms, and a scan has shown low-grade bone stress,” Mackie said.
“We will take a conservative approach with Lenny, with the aim to see him return in the second half of the season.”
