Geelong looks set to mark the unveiling of the final-stage redevelopment of GMHBA Stadium with a match-up against St Kilda.

The Age is reporting the Saints, who lost an elimination final to the GWS Giants, are the Cats’ likely opponents in a night clash on Saturday, 16 March.

The $142 million upgrade, which completes the 20-year overhaul of the venue, will take capacity to 40,000.

The Kardinia Park Stadium Trust had hoped the new stand would be open in mid-2023.

However, construction delays left Geelong playing in front of reduced-capacity crowds for the second consecutive year after the Ford Stand and Gary Ablett Terrace were demolished at the end of the 2021 season.

The entire AFL fixture is due to be released on 16 November.
