GEELONG’S quest for the first piece of silverware for it’s women’s program will go up a gear when it hosts Southern Saints in an elimination final at Deakin Uni on Saturday.

The Cats have suffered a blow to their midfield stocks since the end of the home-and-away season, with Paige Sheppard (Sydney) and Tamara Smith (Hawthorn)  joining AFLW expansion clubs.

Stephanie Williams, who was traded to Richmond last week, was also unable to be considered.

Delisted Geelong duo Carly Remmos and Madisen Maguire will play against the Saints despite being told during the week their services were no longer required at AFLW level at GMHBA Stadium.

However, Rene Caris, who was also let go, won’t play.

It leaves Chloe Scheer as the only AFLW listed player in the Cats’ team.

The Saints ran out 20 point winners over the Cats when the two teams met at Deakin Uni in Round 5.
