Jeremy Cameron’s mammoth six goal effort in round 2 has come at a cost, with the star Cats forward under an injury cloud heading into the clash against Gold Coast.

Cameron almost single-handedly pulled Geelong over the line on Thursday night against Carlton but a collision in the fourth quarter has reportedly left him with a rib issue.

The 29-year-old was missing from training on Monday, putting him in doubt for Saturday’s match against the Suns, with the reigning premiers desperate to get a win on the board.

Cats defender Zach Guthrie said Cameron is a vitally important player for Geelong after his massive start to the season, although admitted he’s feeling pretty sore.

“He was amazing the other night,” Guthrie said.

“At times guys like that who do some really special things don’t get some of the credit for some of the brave acts they do on the field as well.

“Some of the stuff he did in that regard during the game were awesome.

“He did pull up a little bit sore and I think when you do kick six goals and perform like that, you do pull up pretty sore after every game.

“It’s great to watch like that who have the ability to flip the game on their head.

“He was a marvel to watch and in that last quarter he was a really big catalyst for us in trying to get back into the game.”
