CAMERON Ling has even more reason to hand over the mantle as Geelong’s most recent premiership captain on Saturday.
Ling, who stood on the podium alongside first-year coach Chris Scott to collect the premiership cup in 2011, has been given the honour of handing this year’s cup over to Scott and Joel Selwood if the Cats can overcome Sydney.
A crucial part of Geelong’s premiership success in 2007, 2009 and 2011 during his 246-game career, Ling was invited by the club to hopefully join Fred Wooller, Bob Davis and Doug Wade as cup presenters.
“As a lifelong Cats supporter, the opportunity to present the premiership cup on Grand Final day in 2022, if the Cats win, is an incredible honour and something I would never have even dreamed of being possible as a kid,” he said.
“I couldn’t think of anything more special than handing over the cup to Scotty and Joel, two people who I respect so much and have great relationships with.
“It will be pretty special to watch the game with my wife and three boys and hopefully share the magical experience of a Cats premiership through their eyes.”
