Shaun Mannagh will put forward his case for an AFL berth in the coming weeks when he lines up for Geelong’s final VFL practice match tomorrow (Saturday) morning.
After battling a foot issue for much of the pre-season, the 27-year-old is one of nine AFL-listed players named for the clash against the Brendan McCartney-coached Port Melbourne at Deakin University from 10am.
Veteran Mitch Duncan will play a half after being named as an AFL emergency, while former Carlton and Gold Coast forward Jack Martin’s slow build continues.
Draftees Jay Polkinghorne, Patrick Retschko, Keighton Matofai-Forbes, and Joe Pike are also in the squad.
20 VFL-listed players have been selected, pushing their case for a spot in next Sunday’s Round 1 meeting with St Kilda-aligned Sandringham.
The Cats have also confirmed their train-on players for the 2025 season, which includes Noah Caracella, the son of former Essendon, Brisbane and Collingwood star Blake, who is father-son eligible at the Bombers.
