GEELONG has labelled as “positive” the results of a scan on a knee injury that Jake Kolodjashnij suffered during Saturday’s qualifying final win over Collingwood.

The experienced defender was forced from the MCG following an incident during the first quarter before having his knee strapped and returning to action.

However, he was subbed out of the match in the second term and replaced by Irishman Mark O’Connor.

“We have had positive news, with subsequent scans showing a tibiofibular joint injury that the medical and conditioning team will treat and manage accordingly,” the Cats’ head of medical and conditioning services, Harry Taylor, said.

“Jake’s availability for the preliminary final will be determined closer to the game.”

Kolodjashnij was Geelong’s only injury concern for the match, with coach Chris Scott having close to a full list to choose from for the grand final qualifier against Melbourne or the Brisbane Lions.
