GEELONG has made one change for Saturday’s important match-up against Collingwood at GMHBA Stadium, with teenage big Kalani Scoullar to make her AFLW debut.
When Sam Gooden was placed on the inactive list, the 18-year-old GWV Rebels product was elevated to the Cats’ squad.
After impressing at NAB League level with the Rebels, Scoullar represented Vic Country at the under-18 National Championships before making four VFLW appearances with Geelong.
She replaces forward Mia Skinner, who is battling knee soreness.
After making its best start to an AFLW season with wins over Richmond and Fremantle to sit atop the ladder, the Cats will chase three consecutive victories for the first time in their history.
Coach Daniel Lowther says belief among the playing group has grown off the narrow win over the Tigers in the opening round.
“Round 1 has certainly been the catalyst to moving forward,” he said.
“We knew that the foundations for playing consistent footy around contested ball last season was going to help us moving forward.”
Kate Darby, who started her career at Carlton, and Melbourne recruit Jackie Parry will both play their 25th AFLW games.
Meanwhile, AFLW midfielder Laura Gardiner is among three Geelong players named in the squad for the VFLW Team of the Year.
Paige Sheppard and Tamara Smith, drafted to AFLW expansion clubs Sydney and Hawthorn, respectively, are also in contention.
The final team will be announced at Monday’s VFLW/VFL awards night.
