Tom Stewart is an outside chance of featuring in Geelong’s crucial clash with the Brisbane Lions on Saturday night after being cleared of any structural damage to his knee.
The Cats vice-captain suffered the injury in the first quarter of the seven-point loss to St Kilda at Marvel Stadium.
After having the knee strapped, he returned to action in the second term but was clearly hindered before being subbed out of the contest.
“In positive news, scans on Monday morning have ruled out any serious injury to Tom’s right knee,” football boss Andrew Mackie said.
“With two training sessions remaining before we head to Brisbane, Tom will be closely monitored throughout the week and will be a test to play against the Lions on Saturday night.”
Geelong will provide a complete medical update, including the latest on Bailey Smith’s calf injury, tomorrow (Tuesday) afternoon.
