The short-term playing future of Geelong veteran Cam Guthrie is up in the air after undergoing surgery on his troublesome Achilles.
The Cats have labelled the two-time Carji Greeves medalist’ procedure as “minor”.
“Our medical and high-performance team are confident that surgery was the best step for Cameron to fully recover and give himself the best chance to perform,” Geelong football boss Andrew Mackie said.
“The aim for Cameron is to be back on the track in the next fortnight and integrated into football drills within the month.
“A return to play timeline will be finalised in the early stages of the season.”
INTERVIEW: MANNAGH EYES OPENING ROUND
Guthrie has been restricted to ten matches since the 2022 grand final.
He missed most of the 2023 season with a toe issue before a quad injury suffered in match simulation against Carlton delayed his start to last year.
After returning in Round 7, Guthrie made four AFL appearances before a foot issue sidelined him for over three months.
