Former Collingwood player Jay Rantall has become the latest signing unveiled by Geelong’s VFL squad.
The 23-year-old played five games for the Magpies in 2021 and made four VFL appearances for reigning premier Werribee this year.
Rantall was added to the Tigers’ list mid-season after some impressive performances for South Warrnambool, which he helped win the Hampden League premiership.
The signing of Rantall follows the addition earlier this week of Nathan Kreuger, who played 13 AFL matches for Collingwood and two for Geelong.
“Jay Rantall brings some AFL experience, and he is an elite runner,” coach Mark Corrigan said.
“He is a really nice ball user, someone who will complement our inside midfielders; he is going to complement that group really well, and, again, he is another mature body coming in.”
Since leaving Collingwood, the former Australian underage basketball representative played in a SANFL premiership with Norwood in 2022 and at VFL club Footscray (five games) in 2023.
Rantall had signed with NBL1 basketball team Geelong United for this year before deciding to continue playing football.
