Geelong has added some much-needed height to its AFLW list for the 2025 season after confirming it has signed Australian volleyballer Caitie Tipping.

Standing 191cm, Tipping was the subject of interest from up to ten clubs before settling on the Cats and signing a three-year deal.

The 24-year-old attended US college University of South Alabama on a scholarship and has most recently been playing professionally in Sweden with Linköping.

“We are excited to welcome Caitie to the Cats,” assistant football boss Brett Johnson said. She’s an exceptional athlete that will only continue to develop in the AFLW environment.

“We believe Caitie is the perfect addition to our ruck and key position stocks.

“A very talented volleyballer, our program staff will get to work to ensure she has all the preparation she needs to hit the ground running before joining the team for the commencement of pre-season.”

Following Liv Fuller’s departure and Erin Hoare’s retirement in the pre-season, followed by a season-ending knee injury to replacement player signing Lily Pearce, left the 180cm Kate Darby to shoulder the ruck load.

Despite the best efforts of the recently-turned 34-year-old, Geelong failed to win a hitout count for the season.
