Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) has thrilling news for Australians—its flagship streaming platform, Max, is officially launching Down Under on Monday, 31 March 2025!
Bringing together a powerhouse lineup of iconic entertainment, Max combines content from legendary brands like HBO, Warner Bros., DC Universe, Harry Potter, Discovery, Cartoon Network, TLC, ID, HGTV, and more all within a single app.
This launch is set to revolutionise Australia’s streaming landscape, heating up the competition against services like Netflix, Stan, Disney+, and Amazon Prime Video.
As the exclusive home of HBO content in Australia, Max may redefine where your favorite shows reside, potentially shaking up local platforms like Binge, which currently streams HBO through a partnership with Foxtel.
Good news for Foxtel subscribers, they’ll gain access to the Max app at no extra cost (for now).
JB Perrette, CEO and President of Global Streaming and Games at WBD, shared their excitement, saying that “combining an unrivaled breadth of high-quality content, legendary franchises, and a strong product experience, Australians can look forward to the highest-caliber streaming proposition from March 31.”
So, what can you expect? Max will serve as the ultimate destination for HBO Originals and Max Originals, featuring smash hits like The Last of Us, House of the Dragon, Euphoria, and And Just Like That.
Upcoming blockbusters such as It: Welcome to Derry and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, a Game of Thrones prequel, are also on the horizon.
Movie lovers can dive into a treasure trove of Warner Bros. films, from recent releases like Beetlejuice 2 and Twisters to all-time favorites like Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, and the DC Universe.
Starting 31 March, you can subscribe to Max at www.max.com or download the app via the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. The service will be available across all major devices, including mobile phones, tablets, gaming consoles, smart TVs, and Hubbl.
Stay tuned for updates on pricing, features, and content as launch day approaches.
